Post by brian on Thu Feb 17, 2011 5:26 pm

Hello all, Has anyone used Rock Sulphur sold by K9 Petcare .You are supposed to put a piece in the water bowl and it is supposed to keep your dog cool.it dos'nt dissolve but just lays there,I have tried it out on Toby but have not noticed if it has made a difference or not.

Yes Brian it has been around for donkeys years. I have often used it over the years - during the summer months. I don't know if anyone has done any studies to say it does work and I can't remember whether I noticed a difference or not lol! but a lot of people recommend it.

Has your young man been suffering from the heat then??? (and if so which part of the "world " are you living because its blooming freezing here! Very Happy Mind you - you are in Cornwall are you not?? )

Glad to see you here - was only thinking of you yesterday and wondering how you were getting on with your baby xxx

Sulpher is a homoeopathic remedy used when a dogs symptoms include heat and itching so sulpher in the water would be useful when experiencing hot weather. I used homoeopathic sulpher pillules many years ago when a Pomeranian dog of mine started to rip the fur out of his front paws . he was obviously irritated by something so I was advised to try sulpher and after a few days he stopped and was never tempted to do this again. Never underestimate the usefulness of complementary remedies they are safer to use then manmade drugs from a vet ( which are very often toxic ) and dont have side effects to worry about.I do put Rock Sulpher in my dogs drinking water during summer months.

Hi Leslie ,Thanks for your thoughts,Toby is getting on beautifully,he's quite a character ,He's almost 100% clean now and keeps us in stiches with he's antics. He sleeps all night ,and rushes to be let out in the morning, The only problem still on going is he just loves getting as close to you as possible wherever you walk,so scared of stepping on him,but we love him to bits.Best Wishes Brian

I have problems with Rooney itching and licking his paws. I have ordered some RS so will give it a try!

Is the Rock Sulpher the same as the product that is aid to keep their beards whiter not pink as with Tasha? I might also give it a try as they have started itching recently for no apparent reason and NO they don't have fleas . Mali is just coming to the end of her season.

if your dog is licking and scatching his paws then please get homoeopathic sulpher in pill form from a reliable source prefferably a homoeopathic vet who will presribe accordingly if not then get it from a health food shop that gets it from a reliable source . The rock sulper in drinking water is not potent enough to have an effect on this problem and is placed in the water merely as a cooling agent in hot summer months.
