Re: Many Tears
I know its sad Michele but remember 'grief is the price we pay for loving' so if you hadn't have fallen in love with Arabella she would not have known love ...and that is truly what she deserves where ever it may come from. If you hear anything about her progress I am sure we will all be interested to know how she is doing.
Where would all these lovely dogs be without volunteers like you. I'm an emotional wreck when I have said goodbye for the last time to my dogs ..so I know I would find it difficult to do the good work you do .

Re: Many Tears
Aww well done Michele - Bella is going to have a great time as shih tzu and bichon seem to get on really well - and as I said to you before - it means that you can now help another wee doggy when the time is right. I know how hard it is so am sending you abig hug anyway and pat yourself on the back for being such a strong and caring person to do this xxxx
Re: Many Tears

Re: Many Tears
Well I have picked up another ex breeding Shih Tzu this morning she is called Ruby and she is four years old, she doesnt look much like a Shih Tzu at the moment (will post some piccys later) she has her face shaved as she was obviously badly matted, and she still has lots of mats all over her, I have given her a bath but she still doesnt smell so good, the smell of kennels seems to seep into their skin and although she was really good and let me dry and groom her I dont know whether to take her to my groomer and get her clipped right off, she has so many mats I dont know if it fair to put her through the amount of grooming it is going to take to try and get them out, its the people who have treated her so badly that are the animals, it breaks my heart to see a animal that has been so badly treated x

Re: Many Tears
Whaty I did last weekend with a little shih tzu bitch for Friends of the Animals Michele is to carefully scissor off the matts underneath and on the legs then cut down through them lenghtways (skin towards the ground) on the back so it thins the topcoat out but doesn't cut them to the skin. It is a little time consuming which is why groomers don't tend to do it - but it does save quite a bit of coat.
BTW you are doing a brill job for our little breed xxx

Re: Many Tears
People are not animals Michele they can be unfeeling uneducated morons but not animals....animals dont treat each other in this fashion.Keep up the good work....think I would take her to the groomers or cut it right down myself and let her coat start afresh.

Re: Many Tears
Thank goodness for people like you Michelle, who can restore a poor little innocent fur babies faith in humans. I can't say what I would like to do to people that let things get this bad. It sounds like this one is quite bad so I think you have your work cut out. Not sure what I would do, it all depends how Ruby is with being handled. I would probably do as Lesley says and gently have a go at her, especially as you say she was good when you bathed her. She obviously has some faith in you and feels safe letting you groom her, so although it will probably take longer, I think Ruby would feel better if you tried to sort her out yourself.
Well done and keep up the good work. to both you and Ruby.

Re: Many Tears
It breaks my heart too knowing how uncaring people can be with this lovely breed.I think it depends how long Ruby will be with you. I think I would be inclined to do how Lesley suggests as you could do a little each day, then if she is still with you in a couple of weeks when she has settled down with you maybe then take her to your groomer and see what she can do for her. I totally agree you are doing a wonderful job, Michelle.
Re: Many Tears
Some pictures of Ruby, she is still very nervous my daugher came in yesterday and went to make a fuss of her and she wet herself in fear, and when we take her outside for a wee she just cries to come back in and she is so afraid, but she made us laugh last night as she was in her bed having a lovely time rolling round on her back like Shih Tzu do as though it was the first time she had ever done it you could see wqs enjoying herself x[img][/img][img][/img]

Re: Many Tears
I couldn't agree more, she looks lovely, but I am sure with time she will be a very happy little girl.
Re: Many Tears
She is gorgeous - she will soon learn from your girls and you just how wonderful it is to live with a shih tzu loving family
Is that picture an AFTER photo? Cos the coat does not look bad in those photos.

Re: Many Tears

Re: Many Tears
Well I have another foster dog I was supposed to be having a Cavipoo puppy but she got adopted and they sent me a little black and white Shih Tzu, we have called her Meg, she is really friendly for an exbreeding bitch and loves her tummy rubbed, follows me everywhere and I think we are winning with the toilet training, but she can SNORE for England x

Re: Many Tears
aww Michele she is gorgeous - and she is very like my sister's black and white who died a few years ago and guess what? She was called Meg too and she could snore for England (like her father )
Re: Many Tears
She is very lovely and as for snoring Tasha could snore for Wales too. I think Meg must feel very at home with you and relaxed.I do hope she finds a lovely home soon.
Re: Many Tears
Ah Michele you are doing a fab thing for these lil babies.
I so much wanted to do fostering but don't think I could, I would want to keep them all, and now I have pippa.

Ah, she looks gorgeous. You are doing a brilliant job Michelle. I would want to keep them all. This one will make a brilliant companion for somebody once you have worked your magic. She sounds like she is already making progress.
