Burns Kelties
Hi everyone, do any of you give Burns Kelties as a treat. I have fed Alfie on Burns food since I got him, firstly on the Mini Bites and now Chicken and Brown Rice but as a treat I have been giving him Kelties (about 2 a day) well the smell from his rear end is unbelievable, firstly I thought it might be his anal glands but he has them emptied every time he is groomed but the smell is still there. I have had to stop giving them to him and of course he missed his little treat so I gave him half a Kelkin Rice Cake (no salt) which he loved but I am not sure if they are really ok to give him, although there doesn't seem to be anything in them that might not agree with dogs. Anyway back to my question, have any of you had this 'stinky' experience from Kelties.

Re: Burns Kelties
Hi BernieB. I feed my dog Burns Mini Bites the Kelties .Ocean Bites and the training treats and I have had no problem. So I guess its like everything in life you can't suit everyone all the time just some of us some of the time
You just have to find what your dog likes and stick with that. Have to say though my dogs most favourite treat is a big juicy organic raw meaty bone from my butcher ( which is difficult for me as I'm vegaterian ) never mind its a small price to pay to see her happy and doing what dogs do.

Re: Burns Kelties
Hi Bernie as the rice cakes are salt free I would say go for it... if he loves them they are fine as a treat as long as he doesn't have so many that it changes the ratio of protein to carbs in his diet. For many years my mum had some shiddie girls who were only allowed to eat chicken or fish and pasta/rice because of a gut problem and they had breadsticks for treats which worked well for them, along with long thin slices of carrot or even whole carrots
...and tuppence it is amazing what we put up with for our dogs. I am not completely vegetarian but I eat very little meat myself and don't feel comfortable when I do yet I will buy raw chicken wings for Josh and also feed him raw minced whole chicken and as you say it is a small price to pay

Neither Simba or Minty will touch the Burns Kelties for some reason. Minty is fed on Burns food and is fine, but the Kelties, not a chance! Simba, he just won't touch them either. Sorry I can't help more

Re: Burns Kelties
Thanks for all your comments, yeh its funny what suits one dog and not another. He likes them but he stinks when he has them so he will not be getting them again. Of course he loves his carrots and has done since he was a pup so I will stick with them for treats and the odd rice cake. I wrote to Burns telling them of my problem if I get a reply I will let you know what they say.

Re: Burns Kelties
Hi I feed my two on Burns Mini Bites but I think they may have had some Kelties once so I will get some and give them a try. I am sure Tasha would eat them what ever they smell like she only has one thing on her mind that is 'food glorious food'. I will let you know how they like them. We have all just been out for a family sunday lunch over looking the sea as it is my daughters birthday today and my son and his family (it was my daughter-in-laws birthday on friday) so we all took our dogs down the coastal walk it was a bit cold the wind was very fresh but the dogs enjoyed it.So there was quite a big family of us it was very nice indeed.
