Hello Smile

My name is Isabell and around 3 weeks ago my life was taken over by a very small mostly black shih tzu,she is the most wonderful temperament as cute as a button and such a clown.. I honestly think she does funny things to get a laugh then sits back looking really pleased with herself lol, she's not really a rescue but she wasn't in the best of conditions, having been housed outdoors with  large breed dogs, she came to me smelly.. poo all over her bottom and someone had clearly tried to scissor her coat and left several knots behind...the "owners" gave 2 diffrent reasons why they were selling her, and weren't sure of her age.. supplied no innoculation certificate, and basically just wanted her gone I think!  now how could anyone walk away from that?
After getting her cleaned and trimmed properly she had a visit to the vet and it seems she also has a heart murmer.. poor little soul, I firmly believe some people should be horse whipped for letting a dog get in this condition.. but i wont get on my soapbox lol
So hello to everyone and their shih tzu's I look forward to "meeting" you all Smile

A very warm welcome to you and Missy. I have sent a reply to you on the other page. Just join in with whatever mischiefs are going on with our little furbabies we are a very friendly bunch . Ask away with any concerns we all started some where. I have gained so much from being on her e, which will be 5 years sometime this month.
These are my two girls Mali (left)  & Tasha (right)

Hi Isabell and welcome to Whispers. We are a very friendly bunch of shih tzu addicts, so you are in good company. Poor Little Missy, but hopefully she will now come out of her shell and become the loving friendly little companion that the breed are. I am sure Missy will make you laugh so much, shih tzu are born entertainers! lol!

Hello and welcome.  You will now understand why this breed is addictive lol. I still get a kick out of seeing their antics 33 years on from having my first shih tzu.  I hope you enjoy the forum.  Looking forward to hearing all about your little one xxx

Thank you, I am so pleased I found this forum after such a lovely welcome, and I am trying very hard to get a photo to post, because although in my eyes she is the most perfect little soul to walk the earth ( aren't they all?) she really doesn't photograph well being mostly black, I have a nice one on my phone of her but dont know how to get it from there to here lol.

It is lovely when newcomers get involved as I notice there are lot of people register and don't go any further than registration, which is such a shame. It is very mysterious as to why Missy has this odour. I am sure there will be an answer and someone else on here may come along with some ideas. As we say don't be afraid to ask a question as we all started somewhere and we are all a very friendly bunch who just adore our Shih Tzu's. If I may dare to say you might find one is not enough like I did!!!.

Incidentally I too have had problems loading photo's. I am sure that will be sorted soon.

I have just looked on the internet and looked to see what others say about their dog having a bad odour that they cannot get rid of. A lot of people have suggested looking at their food. I can't remember if you said what Missy was being fed on.It could be an idea to look into that and maybe it is something in the food that is causing the smell. Just another avenue to go down.

Hi, I have just wrote on the other post I made about this and dont want to monopolise too much space here lol.. but in answer to this I have had her 3 weeks and the previous owners just said they had her on a complete food they bought in bulk and didnt offer me any to bring home and didnt tell me what it was, by this stage I was fed up with them being so vague we just handed the money over, scooped her up and left!  I put her on denes lamb and brown rice complete which is hypo allergenic, maybe I should try something diffrent.. I just dont know what to do!

A lot of us on her feed a raw food diet including my two girls who are fed on Natures Instinct or Nutriment. I started feeding mine raw when I couldn't get them to eat kibble and it was suggested to me I try them on raw, also my vet wanted to put Tasha under a general anaesthetic to have her teeth cleaned and scaled. As I was totally opposed to putting her through this I put her on to raw food and apart from anything else her teeth are beautiful now. They have never looked back.

Hello there and welcome! Ive not been on here for a few weeks. Ask away!!! don't worry about taking up time or space (I have dominated the site with questions questions questions!!!) everyone is sooooo supportive and great. Now step 1...photos! bear the pain of learning to do it! pics are a MUST! we all like to go google eyed over a gorgeous little fur baby. Well done for stepping in and giving this little one a new life. I made the switch from kibbles to raw a few months ago, so understand ins and out of both. Do feel free to ask anything. Little woo's as I call them, do take over your life. I am totally in love with my boy  Archie. welcome 3

Aww thank you, I will try and get a clearer one of her, I have to admit she has me wrapped around her little paw, I just love her to bits, it makes me so angry and sad when I think what the poor little lamb has been through, and there are so many in worse situations.. I made her a promise, she'll have no more sadness in her life and never lack love and cuddles Smile

She is an absolute cute little fluff ball. I cannot believe how anyone can harm any of this lovely breed or any dog for that matter. I do think that they should ban more people from keeping dogs in the condition you found Missy in. At least now she can be at ease with you and she will slowly realise she is in her forever home with someone who cares and loves her to bits as you do.
