Collar rash Empty Collar rash

Post by Liz b Sat Feb 02, 2013 1:40 pm

Maggie keeps getting a sore part on here throat we're she drinks the collar gets wet and stays next to her skin it fits fine as the dog trainer had a look 2 fingers under and all that.
Her chest ends up wet and face because she may play a lil in the cocker water bowl ( cone shaped to stop ears going in)
Not sure what to do with that as she has to wear one ?

Poor Maggie. Does she have her collar on all the time? Ellie's comes off when we're indoors. Would a different material help?

Indoors ? When she goes in the garden I am worried if she breaks free even though it's secure she will not have it on.

Liz you might want to try a ROAD REFRESHER - they are b rillian for stopping driipping wet faces Very Happy

Sorry but my dogs also only have their collars on when they are out for a walk also because they can rub and break the coat as well as irritate.

I only have harness or collar on when they go for a walk or in the car. I always supervise them when they are outside even in a secure garden.

I bought one of those Road Refreshers, to be honest I've been a little disappointed with it. I find it virtually impossible to see the filling line as it's written in white on a cream background so I have to guess how much to put in. I also find it quite hard to pull the top bit off when I am refilling it. I know it says you can refill it without taking the top bit off but I don't find that very easy either. I also find Daisy still gets a wet face using it so I've kind of given up and gone back to using a cat bowl.

The Road refresher comes in a variety of colours most of which white shows up on... the lid is usually a bit difficult to remove to begin with but gets easier with use - oh and the volume of the bowl is given so there is no need for guesswork when filling if you have a jug.

Probably the bowl was a bit too big for Daisy as she was a puppy so could get her face into it (they do a smaller one for puppies) but everyone I know who I have recommended it to has found the same as me - no wet faces and no wet floor. Very Happy

I have the Road Refresher but I still find Tasha has a wet beard. Bizarrely I have one for the car and they will not drink out of it, so I have put that one away and just take a bottle of water with me and an open bowl. I must say I don't find them that easy as Lyn says to get the lid off or to see the marker. Mine are the grey ones. It is rare that they want to drink when we are out. As for a collar mine never wear one.

Post by Famke Wed Feb 06, 2013 1:03 pm

I received the bowls yesterday (have ordered 2) and mine are light blue. I could find the mark but I thing I'll use a waterproof marker in black to make it more clear. Maybe an idea for you too?

Mine took to the bowls straight away and the spilling is much much much less then it was so I am happy!

Collar rash Empty Re: Collar rash

Post by Mercedes55 Thu Feb 07, 2013 2:59 pm

As far as I know I have the smaller bowl. I could use a marker pen on the line inside the bowl but I was a bit annoyed that it was manufactured with a line I can't see. I took the top off mine every day for about a month and then got fed up of nearly breaking my nails each time so now it's in the kitchen cupboard with all the other stuff I don't use lol!

I bought one of these when they first came out, neither Wispa or Poppy would use it so took it back for a refund, wish they would though as the floor is always flooded after they have had a drink x

Post by simbalove Thu Feb 07, 2013 6:18 pm

Its not so urgent that you fill to the required mark as that is really there to guarantee no spill when travelling I think... I just pour in the water!
Obviously the lid has to be reasonably tight or it wouldn't work as a non-spill bowl scratch
As for wet beards - without a road refresher my dogs would have wet beards, chests and feet... a damp beard is a definite improvement on that! Very Happy
