Hi Jofinn and welcome to Whispers, it's great to have you here. We are a very friendly bunch who love talking about the antics of our fur babies. If you have any questions just ask away and someone will soon be along to help. We also love seeing photos so please post some for us to see.

Thanks for the welcome, Caleb is our new family member who is nearly 10 weeks now he is getting on well with our Lab, Maine Coon and 3 Kids he is best friends with my 7 year old and my 2 teenagers adore him. I have tried to put a photo on but have failed so far ...will keep trying!
Any tips on cleaning eyes when they wriggle away?

Here we go Jo, have a look at these posts and see if they help.

Caleb sounds like he has a lovely home and will make lots of friends in your family. They love children so he will probably spend hours with your 7 year old. Smile

Caleb had his 2cnd vaccination today we are looking forward to taking him out in a week!
Does anyone else find they go to sleep in difficult to find places? This evening I was at work and had a frantic phone call from my son as he couldn't find him! I rushed home only to find him fast asleep behind the sofa totally ignoring being called!

Welcome Jofinn Empty Re: Welcome Jofinn

Post by sands-62 Wed May 30, 2012 9:39 am

I remember the first night we had Mali as an 8 week old puppy she cried and cried. We put her bed a nice soft cosy one in the utility.Next morning I got up early to see if she was ok and couldn't find her in there. Now it isn't a big room by any means but where she had hidden herself was between the boiler and the dishwasher a gap of around 18" so plenty of room and it goes back a way too.The joy when she saw me was overwhelming . Poor little thing she probably wondered what was happening to her being taken away from her brothers and sisters. She now if she see's me getting the bath ready for them to be washed will go and hide under the bureau because she knows I can't get to her under there she can just slide out.

Being used to the Lab who runs at the fastest pace if he hears anyone call in case it is food it is very different with a non food orientated dog! There are obviously lots of these stories! its obviously cool behind the sofa as he is there again!

a) have you set your profile preferences to allow photo hosting (link above in sujay's post)?

b) when the message comes up asking you if you want to allow access to your computer do you click YES (because if not windows won't allow the image host to access the file)

c) nothing physically happens when you click paste (ie you cannot see anything hapen) you then need to click the other icon next to the image hosting button and either click into the box that appears and go up to edit and click paste or click into the box, hold down control and type v

aww he is gorgeous - you have now added him as your avatar but you can post photos in the threads as well Very Happy

That is plenty of walking for a young pup as his bones are just developing if you are road walking but you can then supplement that with play - running for a ball etc in the house or even garden if summer comes back lol!

You will find that they riun around like idiots, collapse shattered for a quick sleep before starting the whole madhouse routine again - oh the joy of baby shih tzu lmao

He really is a cutie xxxxx

Post by jofinn Fri Jun 08, 2012 10:46 am

Thanks, am making the walk short and we have a rest half way so my son can play on the swings etc, but i do want to socialize him well as my lab is a rescue and unpredictable when out as to which other dog he likes and doesn't and the park is working well with this. one other bit of advice is we would really like to have him with a long coat but my husband is not keen on the top knot any ideas? Thanks

I plait Josh's like Captain Jack Sparrow Very Happy

My friend Tracy had a bit of a challenge with her boys and the boys topknots but they got used to them and think they are cool! It is a stunning part of the shih tzu coat... I think you should work on him lol!

You are so right to socialise him - it is really important and you sound like you are doing a grand job with the walks too xxxx
