Hi Dee and welcome to Whispers. I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I am not sure what might be available in the Kent area. You could look up Shihtzu Rescue or Many Tears Rescue there is Michelle on here that often fosters for Many Tears.Alternatively if it is a puppy you are looking for I would go on the Shihtzu Club to find a breeder or the Kennel Club. What ever you decide there is a wealth of friendly advice on here. So don't be afraid to ask.

thankyou so much for your help ,im in the tunbridge wells area of kent, the problem i have is i dont have any transport, so getting around is a bit difficult, i never thought of the many tears rescue so will have a look ,it dosent have to be a puppy im open minded , but i can give a very loving home to another little boy or girl,

i live alone ,i work from home so im here all the time,at the moment i feel devastated , that my companion is no longer here, x

No problem Dee. I have two shihtzu girls and they are the light of our lives,so I know how you must be feeling. If anything happened to these I would be devastated too. I also work from home which is ideal as they have company all day long and go everywhere with us.One thing I will say on here everyone is very friendly and always willing to help, so you wouldn't be lonely. My two had me up at 3.30am and haven't slept since, but they are worth it.

Hi Dee, and welcome to the forum. I am so sorry that you have lost your faithful friend at such a young age, and totally understand how you are feeling, as do most of us on here. It is a heart wrenching thing to go through. But, I am also glad that you feel ready to find love in your heart for another fur baby. I am sure that you will find the right dog for you, and if anybody hears anything they will let you know. I don't know if we have any members in Kent, but I am sure something can be arranged.

Here is the phone number of the Shih Tzu rescue in Kent

Kent Shih Tzu Rescue - Mrs. C. Mead, Kent, Telephone 01795 422159 Apparently this lady is in Sittingbourne and also runs a dog grooming business (Google is a brilliant invention!)

I don't know if that is close to you, but they may be able to help. Good luck, and we are all thinking of you at this hard time. teddy hug

Welcome to the forum and I am so sorry for your loss, it is devastating I know only too well. The breeder of my second shih tzu said to me when I lost her at an early age that although it is painful, she would much rather go through life loving and losing a shih tzu than never to have know the love and joy they bring. I have always tried to remember that when I am at my lowest ebb.

Both Many Tears and Friends of the Animals RCT often have Shih Tzu in but, as with many rescues, you usually have to be able to travel to visit the dog. That said lots of rescues also foster their dogs out so it is worth looking on their websites to see what is available and if any are fostered near you etc. I will put the links below along with the official breed rescues - and the link for dogpages too. I am giving you the links so that you can download and fill in their adoption forms asap and you can also find outwhat you need to do in order to adopt from them Very Happy Carol Mead works with her friend Pauline and that is the HOME COUNTIES SHIH TZU RESCUE.

DOGPAGES RESCUE FORUMS

SOUTHERN SHIH TZU RESCUE

HOME COUNTIES SHIH TZU RESCUE

MANY TEARS

FRIENDS OF THE ANIMALS RCT

I hope that is of help to you.

Obviously if you want a puppy then your first port of call should be the shih tzu club puppy co-ordinator who should be able to tell you af any litters in your area. The email address for her is mdiffey@theshihtzuclub.co.uk

and the following is a link to the breeders' directory of the Manchu Shi Tzu Club:

Well done on taking the first steps on what will be a lovely adventure for both you and a gorgeous new baby. I am sure you won't have to wait too long before you have the pitter patter of little Shih Tzu paws in your house again.

Good luck and please keep us up to date with what is going on. Smile

I have been very remiss and forgotten about one of the lovely rescues that we know of and they have an urgent plea out for foster homes for 2 shih tzu asap and also on their pages they have a two year old boy - so I know you have registered with the Southern Rescue and this boy is in Chesterfield and I don't know what their rules are but I am going to put a link to his page here for you anyway Very Happy

Especially as they often have shih tzu there xxx
