clicky feet
Have noticed with Toby that when he walks ,his back feet seem to click and the pads become visible just as though the feet are coming out of joint and clicking back in .It dos'nt seem to happen when he runs and dos'nt seem to affect him in any way i.e. no pain or discomfort.Has any one else noticed this happen to any of there furbies, or any suggestions as to what it might be.

Re: clicky feet
This breed are meant to show their rear pads as they walk so that is perfectly normal. Without seeing for myself it is hard to tell what the clicking is but are you sure it is not just his nails are maybe a little long and need cutting and it is the nails you can hear clicking?
If it were anything serious I am pretty sure that you would see Toby in discomfort and maybe lame. If you are concerned about it Brian pop him into your vets just to make sure but I bet you there is nothing wrong.
Just as an example, Josh started clicking the other day and on inspection I found a twig caught in his leg hair that was rattling on the ground as he walked

Re: clicky feet
Yes that is Toby though he is all grown up now - there are photos of him fairly recently on here (though I posted them as Brian and photos don't go together).
I am hoping Brian comes on again today to give me a bit more information xxxx

Hi Leslie ,Hav'nt talked for a time ,just to let you know about Toby's feet .As he walks it seems as though his back feet come out of joint and click back in as he moves forward .This is the only way that i can explain it,but he dos'nt limp or he flinch in any way so there's obviously no pain involved. If he's not worried then i'm not,but my wife seems a bit concerned.Personally on my behalf i don't seem it being worth troubling the vet with it, he seems perfectly ok to me, but i hav'nt got the insight of a woman.

Re: clicky feet
I don't know if you are just describing a NORMAL shih tzu rear action or whether there is a CLICKING sound as he walks???? If from the back his rear legs reach out backwards and the pads of these feet are on the top (facing upwards) as he moves forward then THAT is the correct action of a shih tzu... they are supposed to show their full pad as they move forward.
If you are meaning something totally different then I would suggest just having a word with your vet maybe when he next goes for vaccination just to get it checked out. It is the fact that you are saying the word CLICK which is concerning me a little love Lesley xxxx
