Rooney, Roxy&Pip wrote:I went all nuggets for their tea tonight so will try to keep that way. I am not sure that Pippa is getting on with the natures menu so will need to buy some more mini bites for her.
Did Rooney & Roxy eat their tea without looking for the Mini Bites, thinking you had run out or why was Pippa having them and not us lol?
Re: diet help please
I think Rooney would love more nuggets! He goes barmy over them!
I keep Pippa in the conservatory while she has her tea and Roo and Rox in the kitchen. Pippa is a fast eater and Roxy is so slow!!

Re: diet help please
Rooney and Roxy are now on nuggets only and Roxy has 10 a day and Rooney has 14 a day split into two meals.
They still have mini bites as treats or a snack but when I am home all day I give them natures menu treats. Is this ok?
Pippa is on soaked mini bites as the natures menu pouches were disagreeing with her. She seemed ok for a week or so.
I visited the vet today and Rooney is now 9.45kg and Roxy is 6.8 kg......how good is that!!I need to maintain this weight now.
Pippa is 6 months old on Friday and is 3.50 kg.
I need to work on my own weight now......

Re: diet help please
Tuppence still only has six nuggets a day plus one blended fruit and veg as her evening meal and her Verm-X biscuits in the morning she also gets her training treats( usually a Hot Dog sausage , and only as a training reward) when we go training 2/3 times a week. You lot make me feel I am starving her...but she niether loses or gains weight.....so I suppose she is OK !
I have just been accepted onto the Animal Care Colleges' Advanced Canine Nutrition Course Level 3 so hopefully I shall be better informed on this subject , it an accredited course with the Open College Network South East Region.

Well done for that Carole. What will you do at the end of the course, how long is the course? I don't think you are starving Tuppence they will only eat the amount they want. Mali eats 2 in the morning with her Mini bites and three at evening time. They are so funny you can time them by your clock, at 5.30 pm they will get into line waiting for their dinner, and they say dogs don't understand time!!!
Re: diet help please
I was feeding Roo and Roxy dry biscuits so I guess this was filling them up. Now they are nuggets they getting the right amount each day to fill them up I guess?

How keen are they for food when it is nearing their brekky/ tea time do they seem ravenous or normal? Mali doesn't eat a lot most of the time but if she is going to her empty bowl at any time during the day i usually will give her some dry Mini Bites if she just looks at them and walks away I know she isn't as hungry as I thought. Some days she astounds me with her appetite and most days she couldn't care less about food. She eats to live , Tasha on the other hand lives to eat, I've never had a problem with her eating but I have to watch how much she eats as she will put weight on very easily. Last year at the Burns Dogs Day Out , John Burns said she needed to lose a bit of weight and there is less than a month away.
Re: diet help please
They are all always keen to get their breakfast! not nervous, more excited!
Looks like I am going back on mini bites as my partner hates the smell of the nuggets. I shall go back to soaked mini bites and one or two nuggets as you do.

I must say I have never had a problem feeding Mini Bites and Nuggets. The last couple of days Mali has not wanted her Brekky so if she hasn't attempted eating it even after trying a bit in my fingers I take it away and offer it again at lunchtime if she still doesn't want it I give it her at 5.30pm and she always woofs it down then.It could be that Mali prefers one meal a day. She is also in 'season' and that may be putting her off eating, who knows?

Re: diet help please
As you said before, the bites are soaked so I will try this. At least they are getting some of the nuggets inside them!
I will stick to mini bites with Pippa as she has been more settled on them.
Argh its a job to know what to do!
