Hi there,

I've had dogs all my life and always considered myself a 'big dog' person. However, I used to do a lot of transporting for rescues and had the pleasure of delivering an adult shih tzu to his new home - I just fell in love

Anyway, with two dogs and two kids I put thoughts of giving a home to one of these little furbabes on the long finger. Unfortunately, we had to have our oldest dog, Ben, put to sleep at the end of January but we began to think about what kind of dog we would like. Ben was a 90lb dal/ greyhound cross and he shed like nothing I've ever seen so we thought a smaller, low-shedding dog would be great. My husband was totally against a 'frou-frou' dog, as he liked to call them, but I came across an ad on line for a 5 month old male shih tzu needing a new home and I sent it to him, 100% just chancing my luck. When he gave me the green light I just couldn't believe it. When I went to bed that night and found our new addition 'Ozzy' under the covers in our bed I really couldn't believe it. Needless to say he has wormed his way into all our hearts and is a huge hit with the kids and especially our fear aggressive sprollie, Cody.

So, I think that's about it - apologies for the essay lol. I'm hoping to get some good advice and just general chatter with other shih tzu lovers.

Oh I just love your story - it warms the cockles of your heart - and I can well believe how smitten your hubbie has been (shih tzu are a bit like that )

He has clearly wormed his way right into both you and your husbands heart which is right where he belongs. It is also fantastic that he is helping you sprollie Cody. There is something about these little Shiddies that nobody can explain! to you all.

Welcome to Whispers from me and my two girls Mali & Tasha. That is a lovely story. They do have a knack of getting right into our hearts, even when they are in trouble. Like yesterday Tasha my youngest who if either of them is going to be in trouble it is her.I couldn't find them in the garden so went over to the orchard where we have all the veg growing and Mali was sitting guarding the entrance as if to say "I am being a good girl" but where was Tasha? she only had tramped in amongst the veg, luckily not damaged anything, but clearly her paw prints in the soil the hefferlump she is.I thought what am I to do. Hubby watching the football so he was fairly safe and wouldn't see what had been going on. So I decided to water the garden to save a job for him -of course- and hide the paw prints. So far it has worked. He would have been far from amused.Why she had to choose yesterday to go on there I will never know as when the seeds were planted she kept off it. I thought it amusing that Mali was having nothing to do with this at all.

We all love our furbabies here!

I actually admitted to hubby yesterday what had happened and he had a laugh when he realised the cover-up. He had noticed her paw prints in the soil. So perhaps I hadn't done as good a job as I thought!!!
