Help!!! Coco has the poos :(
Hi was wondering if anyone had any advice for me or have experienced the same problem i've got with coco.
A few days ago to my horror, i woke up to really bad diahorrea. I decided to wait to see if she would get any better before taking her to the vets, and stuck to just feeding her her dry puppy food (proplan). She seemed to get alot better however the following morning i woke up to yet more diahorrea but she was also being sick so i called the vet for an emergency appointment. The vet checked her over and said she was fine, gave her an injection to stop her throwing up and some probiotic paste. he told me to feed her brown rice and white fish or chicken, and thats what i have been doing. However it has been a day and she is still having very runny poos, it was slightly more "formed" this morning but now its reverted back to runny yellow poop. Coco is still lively and running around as normal. Should i take her back to the vets? has anyone got any advice? is there anything i can give her? your help and advice would be greatly appreciated as i am now somewhat stressing a little.
thanking you in advance

Hi when Oscar had the poops really bad we took him to the vets and he was given same things as Coco, jab and probiotic paste and we were told to feed him a light diet, but we found giving him to much chicken didn't help at all as soon as we put him back on dry food he was fine, But i'm not saying that is the reason could you maybe ring the vet for advice.
Hope things soon improve for you and Coco.

I wouldn't feed her anything just yet - make sure she is drinking plenty of water and go back to the vet as soon as you can tomorrow. She is not going to come to any harm not having anything to eat - it is likely that you will need to reintroduce protein quite slowly - but please let your vet be the judge of that xxxx

The advice from our vet has always been, starve them for 24 hours, but make sure they have water freely, then slowly introduce very small meals (just a tablespoon or so, every couple of hours with a puppy) of either rice or pasta with a little bit of chicken mixed in. But, as Lesley says, let your vet be the guide to what you do.

I've always been told to starve them for 24 hours, as long as they're taking fluids, and then yeah, brown rice and plain chicken breast. If in doubt, always check your vet - they shouldn't mind if you just ring them up and ask, and then they can decide if you need to bring her back in.
Poor wee lamb, hope she's feeling better soon.

Certainly not Sandra
The thing with a tummy bug is that things seem to be ok while the poor pup is being starved but the moment food is iontroduced particularly protein it starts the digestive process off again and often sparks of the tummy upset again - which is why I suggested fluid only till the vet appointment just to stop the unpleasant symptoms for the pup really xxxx
Meant to add that I hope Coco is feeling better today - often they are right as rain a day or two later xxxx
