Hello from Emmy

Post by Emmy on Fri Sep 04, 2009 5:13 pm

Hello there

We have just become Shih Tzu owners for the first time. We already have two Yorkie/Poodle crosses, they are rather sedate middle aged ladies and are taking their time to get used to the new puppy.

We went to see the litter and chose the pup we wanted. She was four weeks old and we expected to pick up her up when she was 7 weeks old. However the owner knocked on our door a couple of days later and said she wanted us to take it now. So we ended up with a pup that was barely five weeks old. Fortunately my daughter has done an animal care course and it covered looking after orphan puppies. She is growing amazingly fast. She was barely walking and had no teeth when she arrived and now she is trotting all over the place and gnawing on our toes.. She has the most appalling puppy breath though. I hope she grows out of that.

She is a feisty little thing. I have had pekineses in the past and she seems very similar in temprement. I am looking forward to her growing up and seeing how she turns out.

I'm also intrigued why the breeder gave her up at 5 weeks! you are lucky though your daughter is around to help bring her up! Very Happy

She came back with another puppy she wanted me to take. I cant manage more than three dogs so I declined. He is cute though. Looks much like a shih tzu than she does
